Roofing & exteriors
SEO for roofing companies
Storm hits, every roofer in the county buys ads, and the one who ranks organically pays nothing.
How people actually search for you
Four queries, four different jobs.
“roof repair near me”
Map pack decides it. Proximity you can't change, reviews and categories you can.
“roof replacement cost [city]”
Research intent on a $15,000 decision. The page that gives an honest range gets the call; the page that says “contact us for pricing” gets skipped.
“storm damage roof inspection”
Spiky, seasonal, and it rewards whoever already had the page indexed. You cannot publish this after the storm.
“[material] roofing contractor”
Metal, slate, TPO, standing seam. Specific, lower volume, and almost always uncontested.

Straight answers
How fast can a roofing company rank?
Three to six months for most suburban markets, faster if the site has never been set up properly. Storm seasons concentrate the payoff, so the work has to be done before one.
Should I publish prices?
A range, yes. Buyers comparing three roofers will drop the one that hides it. You can qualify it heavily — “most full replacements in this market run X to Y” — and still win the click.
Do I need separate pages per city?
Only where you genuinely work and can say something specific. Fifteen near-identical pages compete with each other and dilute the one that matters.
