The questions people actually ask.

Not keyword research. These are the ten questions that come up most often on real calls with business owners and partner agencies — and the answers I give, including the ones that cost me work.

Business ownerShould I hire one agency for everything, or specialists for each piece? One vendor if you want fewer meetings. Specialists if you want better work. The honest middle is one accountable person who coordinates the specialists.Business ownerCan I keep my current PPC vendor and just hire you for SEO?Yes. That's a normal arrangement and often the right one. If paid is working, replacing it to win a bigger contract would be bad advice.Multi-location operatorWhy does Google keep changing our business address back?Because something else on the web still says the old one. Google weighs the whole corroboration trail, not just your profile, and the profile loses.Business ownerWhat happens after the website launches? Is that just the starting line?Yes, it's the starting line, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you a launch. The useful question is what the first 90 days after launch look like.Agency partnerHow do I know your audit is actually right? You don't, yet. A first-pass crawl is an initial assessment, not a verdict. Flag anything that looks wrong and I'll go look — that's a normal part of the process, not a complaint.Agency partnerDo more blog posts actually help, or are we just making pages? For an established site with hundreds of pages, adding hundreds more usually does very little. Volume stopped being the lever a while ago.Agency partnerHow do I scale SEO across my whole book of business?By standardising the recurring work and only customising the strategy. Most agencies do the reverse, which is why the twelfth account is harder than the first.Business ownerDid that click actually become a phone call?Only call tracking can tell you, and most accounts don't have it wired to the keyword. Without it, you're comparing a platform's self-reported conversions to your own gut.Multi-location operatorWe're opening another location. What do we do before it opens?Start about 90 days out. A location that goes live with no profile, no citations and no page spends its first six months invisible while paying rent.Business ownerWe spend a fortune on ads. Why can't anyone find us organically?Because ads and organic are different systems. Spend buys you the top of the page today and contributes nothing to whether you're there when you stop paying.

Where these came from

Client and partner calls over the past few months, anonymised to the vertical. No names, no companies, no identifying details — the rule here is that clients are described by what they do, never by who they are.

Several of these answers are against my own interest. "Keep your current paid vendor" and "stop publishing so many pages" are not upsells. They're what I'd tell you on the phone, so they may as well be on the website.

Got one that isn't here? Ask it and I'll answer, and if it comes up again it'll end up on this page.
