We just scoped a Q4 project around this: YouTube, Instagram and TikTok treated as search engines.
A product company's customers were finding them on YouTube and Instagram before Google. The plan we built for Q4 treats those as search engines, not social feeds.
What that means in practice
- Video titles and descriptions written for the questions people type
- Profiles that say what you do in words a search box matches
- The same topic answered on the site, the channel, and the profile
- ChatGPT and Maps checked like any other results page
Google is still the biggest. It's just not the only place the question gets asked anymore.
